The Husky Expedition: A Longer Ride Through the Arctic
The Husky Expedition is for guests who look at a 30-minute sled ride and think: not enough. It follows the same rhythm as our Classic tour, the same meeting point at Prostneset, the same 60 to 75 minute transfer to Camp Aspemo, the same thermal gear and instruction, but once you are on the runners, you stay there. You drive your own team of Alaskan huskies for around 60 minutes over longer and more varied trails: gentle climbs where you kick along to help the dogs, open stretches where the team finds its pace, and turns that ask a little more of you as a driver.
The Ultimate Sledding Journey
You do not need to be an athlete, but you should be comfortably fit; driving a sled is more physical than it looks, and on the uphills the dogs expect you to contribute. Two guests share each sled and swap between driving and riding, so you also get long stretches of simply watching the landscape go by from the sled bag. Like all our tours it ends in the Arctic Cafe with hot drinks and homemade cake, time with the dogs, and the coach back to Tromsø. Total time about four and a half hours. If it is your first time and you are unsure, start with the Classic tour; if you already know you love it, this is the one.
